LiLMERMAiD : "Brave New Girl" by Britney Spears ( *embedded yt hidden* ) Fandom/Song/Artist: LiLMERMAiD "Brave New Girl" by Britney Spears Vidded by: SimbiAni Link to Site: http://dear.to/luv (with links to FileFront & YouTube) Details: Footage from my DVD :: 3mins44seconds :: 19MB/27MB :: WMV/XViD :: Notes: Download directions AND lyrics at site ^-^ Will gladly upload any vid to any temp site of your choice if those listed don't work for you! Just comment :D Summary: Ariel has only one dream; and she's gonna make it come true. (Ariel/Eric) Behind The Scenes: Oct2006: *nostalgic sigh* Me & Ariel have history from wayyy back, hehe. She was my first obsession, right before LionKing, so she'll always have a special place in my heart, LoL. And so when they finally released the Special Edition DVD, it was all about the yayness! I knew I wanted to vid it, altho I wasnt sure to exactly what songs, I did have some in mind. Well, I started working on one of them, but I got vidder's block, and then I remembered this song, and that I'd considered vidding it (to a diff movie) before, but never got around to it. After a second glance at the lyrics, I realized this was more perfect for Ariel than any other song! And thus, inspiration struck! Enjoy! PS. Grr @ the wmv being slightly blurry. So I'm including a link for the xvid version also, which is a bit heavier in filesize. You can get the xvid codec here. Any/all comments will be ADORED! *hugs for feedback* Thank you! Recc'ed by: NestTheEchidna: "*Applauds* Bravo! Oh, I remember watching this movie and being obsessed with the song 'Part of Your World.' Awesome job on the video, once again! You're right, this is the perfect song for her =D" PrinceXan: "Fabulous video here! Oh, please make another one of Ariel. I'm also obsessed with her." ~*~

Here's another video! I really liked this one, and tried to do more than just make a good video, but also tell a story in relation to the song (more so than normally). The song is "Brandy (You're a Fine Girl)" by the band Looking Glass, and the footage is from Final Fantasy X. You can check out my amv.org link, or a slightly lower res version on video.google (but make sure you watch it in original size so it doesn't become overly pixelated). Once yousendit fixes itself (the "send" button is no longer a link so it doesn't do anything), I'll have a yousendit link available for anyone interested. Critique is highly welcomed, and enjoy! Call for vids!
Maybe someone is still watching this comm ... so, tzikeh is looking for vid recommendations for this year's vividcon theme show: God, the Devil, and Bob. "I'm running a vid show called "God, the Devil, and Bob" - and I'm looking for vids about gods, devils, angels, and demons. These do not have to be limited to the Judeo-Christian types - if you have made / know of a vid about Odin, Sekhmet, or Shiva, I'm all over it. And if you think you can *make* a vid about an angel, a demon, a god, or a devil before the deadline of July 5, let me know that, too (but be *certain* you can do it, and with no guarantee that it will make it into the show).
You can drop your suggestions here: http://www.vividcon.com/suggest.cgi (be sure to check out the other vid shows which need suggestions too!); or you can email them to me."Both live-action and anime vids are welcome! So if you know of any anime vids that are about gods, devils, angels and/or demons, that are excellent and should be exposed to a new audience, please get those recommendations to tzikeh by the end of this week so she can contact the vidders in time to get them on the list! Hi
Wow, many familiar names here, too bad I always find these places
post-mortem (then again, small and quiet is good). Very interesting
community, though.
I'm very impressed with some of the works I've seen by people
here. "Urban Ragnarok" is fantastic (but 1.10 was a bit
over-produced, 1.00 is my favourite :), "The Fall" is always
an inspiration, and "I Wish I Was a Lesbian" is fun.
Well then.
http://www.reimeika.ca/marco/latest.html
I make very simple vids, mostly inspired by the older creators
(c-ko, you know who...) They're also quite primitive because
I have to write most effects myself (which is fun, but I'm not
that interested in FX to begin with). I like my amvs, but then
again, I'm part of a small minority :) | | Thursday, September 1st, 2005 | 10:25 am [sarahtheboring]

One more time! (so-called mod note!)
Okay. After some conversations here and there, I have conceded that a dead LJ community can serve as an archive, in a sense, even if there's no present-day interest. And so I'll leave this as-is. Revival posts are very welcome at any time, of course! Just noting that it has been quiet so that you don't think I'm completely clueless as a maintainer. ;)So. Please post if you make or find anything relevant, any time - otherwise, enjoy what we've posted in the past. Thank you. | | Wednesday, August 10th, 2005 | 4:36 pm [sarahtheboring]

Mod note
This community has been temporarily reactivated by the request of a member so that something that was here could be backed up. If you have anything like this that needs to be done, please do it now, and also let me know when you're done so that I can close up shop again. I'd like to not have to revisit this embarrassing failure a second time, so please get it done now. :) If I don't hear from anyone on this, then I'll close up at the end of August. That should be more than enough time. Thanks a lot. | | Saturday, March 12th, 2005 | 8:57 pm [trythil]

Music videos
Hiya, I was using animemusicvideo.org to put my videos up on, but because of their rule about it having to be anime a few of my videos are about to be taken off of there, and when asked where to take the videos too they mentioned this forum. So I figured I'd share them for anyone interested in viewing them. Here are the links for the videos, they're both Ninja Turtles from the 2003. My favorite is "Star Turtles": First there's "Donatello's Underground Mission" this is the second real music video I made... there are some parts that look choppy because of the slow motion effect. I'm still learning. http://videos.undermanhattan.com/d_ivey/video/MagicDonatello.mpgThe second one is Star Turtles. Out of all of my music videos this is my favorite. It's using the song Star Trekkin, with the TMNT. The idea was mainly because of the old Star Trek TMNT toys, though I changed them up in the video. So using the 2003 TMNT I was able to make this video. http://videos.undermanhattan.com/d_ivey/video/StarTurtle.mpgPlease feel free to leave feedback. Thanks. Quoth the video description:
~aerial~ Kaleidostar / TËЯRA - STARS (2nd NAOKI's style) A quick two-day project, intended to help me teach myself Premiere Pro. As such, it's my first Premiere Pro project, aside from some experience at ACen 2004's Iron Chef competition. This is an optimistic little video, chronicling Sora's entry into and rise in the Kaleido Stage. Two episodes and the opening animation. Woo. No lyric sync intended or attempted :) Software: Adobe Premiere Pro, AVISynth v2.55, VirtualDub v1.5.4.1. http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members/members_videoinfo.php?v=53403[edit: Local download is an XviD DivX5-compatible AVI file at 640x480. Brief introduction and technical question...
Hi, I'm Arkady, and you can't possibly know me from my vids since I haven't made any yet. (And I haven't really been actively downloading many AMVs since, oh, '02 or so, except for my recent hunt for good Utena (series!) vids. And I'm picky. -.-) But I wanted to say hi, because this looks like a delightful community. So hi! If anybody knows of any reliable, free-or-cheap ways (i.e., not buying Final Cut Pro) to inverse telecine DVD rips on Mac OSX, I will be very very surprised and happy. Happy because I haven't gotten anything to work (yet; going to download the mpeg-2 component once I have my new processor installed and see if it'll help to work from uncompressed rips) and surprised because the vid fandom seems to be so PC-oriented that I doubt anyone knows. But it is currently my major bugaboo. Other than that, I like Utena (and some number of other animes) and I like AMVs. They're a very interesting genre. | | Sunday, October 3rd, 2004 | 6:40 am [lostboydv]

Title: ....
This is kind of a silly question, but I'm wondering about titles. Of course, this is more of a factor in AMVs than in fandoms where "[song]" or "[song]/[fandom]" are allowed as titles. Is a good title important, as a viewer? Does it have a major impact on whether you decide to watch something? As an editor, how do you come up with them? Do you ever get stuck? Do you usually title a piece before or after it's done? Offhand, I'm thinking that if you can write the theme or the point of the vid in one line, and then boil that down to a word or phrase, you have a serviceable title. But that can be boring (can it?), or just not work. Thoughts, tricks of the trade, anything like that? (I'm having a terrible time titling my current project, but that's mostly because it's vague. The word "vague" is in the one-line summary. That isn't helpful. My usual cop-out is to pick a line of the song that isn't the title and use that, but I've done that way too many times. As a viewer, it only ruins things if a) it's misspelled or b) in a serious video, is really generic - plug the name of a character into a song title, like "Bring [Character] to Life," and I run screaming. Of course, there are exceptions, but as a viewer I won't seek those out unless someone convinces me that they are, indeed, quite good.) Detailed Rec: Dragonball Z Conclusion Member: Endless Pride Song(s): Apocalyptica - Hope Anime: DragonBall Z [Downloadable Here]The opinion I left: Good: follows the beat, good use of narrative, good use of song, highly re-viewable
Bad: unless one is very very familiar with the source, has a really fast eye, or is watching this on repeat, it's really hard to process the story being told. Alot of it looks like flashy nonsense until I watched it carefully only looking in the foreground or background during the scenes where there's huge amounts of motion or action. There's just SO much going on so fast that it's literally hard to see it all. However, this make it highly reviewable; problem is, some viewers will be lost because it looks really random if they're not paying really careful attention.
General: I love this vid! I love the song choice, and the use of the melody line.
Narrative-wise, I love how the conflict was intro-ed, then goes from Goku's fighting to the b/w of Goku's defeat. Then you have Vegeta's thoughts and memories to a zoom-in of Vegeta's face (Vegeta becoming determined) becoming Vegeta fighting and defeat. But, with the music change, being protected by Goku with the fighting as seen and being seen by both of them that moves into the teamwork that saved the world. It then flows smoothly into the conclusion with people in celebration that matched perfectly what the song was doing at the end. This is just wonderful match up of your story to the song's movements.
Very interesting use of effects and masks, even though I think alot of it is overdone and overshadows the story you were trying to tell. I wouldn't be surprised if you lose some of your audience to seizures or boredom because they can't figure out what's going on or they just watch it for the effects and completely lose track of the story you're trying to convey.
Note, however, that I haven't actually *seen* the series (even though I read fic for DBZ so I generally know what's going on), which actually is an added applause for framing your vid well enough that after a couple viewings I was able to pick up on the storyline.
Thoughts? Reactions? Discussion? Agree/Disagree? Anything to add? Was there parts of the DBZ storyline that I totally missed 'cause I'd never watched the source? [and who wants to kick of discussion next week? =)] Current Mood: contemplative |
